Si vas a hacer que la autorreferencia sea parte de tu repertorio cómico, tienes que insertarla de manera natural en la película; tiene que ser parte del estilo narrativo y hasta de la personalidad de tus protagonistas. No puede ser mencionado una o dos veces para luego ser abandonado. Además, como siempre, el filme incluye un par de chistes escatológicos, tan chistosos como las escenas dramáticas son emotivas. El hecho de que uno de los personajes secundarios comente que "ese tipo de vulgaridades no dan risa" no le da licencia al director de incluirlos "irónicamente"; igual se sienten fuera de lugar. Igual de vergonzosos son los cameos de Ulloa —usualmente la aparición del director no debería llamar tanto la atención— y el humor físico; un par de cachetadas a un amigo de Cachín pueden dar risa, pero cuando le pagan 8 veces seguidas… es más incómodo que otra cosa. Lo cual no quiere decir que "¡Asu mare! 3" carezca de todo ritmo cómico. Anahí de Cárdenas resalta más en esta secuela que en las dos películas anteriores, demostrando que su parodia del estereotipo de limeña hueca todavía puede ser explotado con grandes resultados ( el mejor momento de la película: cuando le pide a media fiesta que cante luego de que botan al chato a la piscina).
