Rinunciando a "mostrare i muscoli" nella messa in scena, Normal People trasporta chi guarda in un universo così plausibile da scatenare un'empatia immediata e un coinvolgimento profondo nei destini dei suoi personaggi, aiutata da una scrittura che lavora altrettanto in sottrazione e che da una parte prende a cuore la tridimensionalità dei personaggi, dall'altra lascia ampio margine di spazio all'ambiguità del reale. Come nella realtà, in questa serie non è necessario davvero sempre spiegare tutto: la storia comincia in medias res, i salti temporali non sono mai colmati dal racconto di quello che è successo, gli alti e bassi dell'amore, le separazioni, si dipanano lungo l'arco orizzontale ma rimanendo in sudditanza di una struttura che, trasformando il libro in dodici capitoli, privilegia comunque la consistenza interna all'episodio, evitando di trasformare la storia semplicemente in un lungo romanzo ma rendendo merito e sfruttando appieno il medium televisivo. Il risultato finale è un equilibrio magistrale tra gli elementi che è la chiave della riuscita di uno show televisivo che voglia dar risalto a ciò di cui parla anziché all'ego di chi la realizza, ma questo non significa che la qualità del lavoro filmico fatichi a notarsi, anzi si può dire esattamente il contrario.

Qualche stereotipo di troppo, ma sceneggiatura complessivamente brillante "C'è gente che vola tutti i weekend da Los Angeles a Las Vegas. Ecco la loro storia ". È sufficiente la frase di apertura della n uova serie comedy LA to Vegas per descriverne le potenzialità e i limiti. LA to Vegas è la classica storia ambientata sul posto di lavoro, solo che in questo caso il posto di lavoro non è un ufficio, bensì il volo dell'economicissima Jackpot Airlines su cui prestano servizio la hostess Ronnie (Kim Matula) e l'assistente di volo Bernard (Nathan Lee Graham) sotto lo sguardo non sempre vigile del Capitano Dave (Dylan McDermott). La serie, che debutterà in Italia il 30 marzo su Fox, ha un grande merito: fa ridere. E lo fa con sorprendente intelligenza. C'è da dire che in effetti dietro LA to Vegas c'è una squadra che racchiude i migliori produttori e sceneggiatori comici presenti sulla scena, come Steve Levitan (creatore di Modern Family) e Lon Zimmet ( Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt).
